The bill for the Miami Dolphins' offseason shopping spree comes out to more than $175 million for nine veterans either signed or re-signed since the beginning of March.
While no team has been more active, the Dolphinsstill have needs at tackle, cornerback and pass-rusher. Don't expect any more moves before the start of the 2013 NFL Draft, though. General manager Jeff Ireland reportedly is putting his checkbook away.
Asked by The Miami Herald if the Dolphins might be done shopping for awhile, one team official responded: "That's probably accurate, although we never say never."
"What's left signing anyway?" another team source quipped.
A third team official said the Dolphins are concentrating on the draft "unless something falls off a tree."
According to figures released by the NFLPA on Wednesday, the Dolphins have $8.26 million available in salary-cap space. If Ireland does have one more signing left, it might be at right tackle. Eric Winston "hasn't given up" on signing with the Dolphins, and Tyson Clabo just fell off of a tree when the Atlanta Falconssurprisingly set him free.
