After jumping up to the No. 3 spot in the 2013 NFL Draft, the NFL world expected the Miami Dolphins to take Oklahoma left tackle Lane Johnson. However, general manager Jeff Ireland instead plucked Oregon's dynamic pass rusher, Dion Jordan.
Ireland didn't select a left tackle in the draft, but he told the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero on Sunday that he wasn't worried about the perceived need at the position.
"It's an important position," Ireland said. "But I feel like we have some flexibility. There are some options out there. I have some things up my sleeve that might work out. We're going to have to fill the need probably with a veteran guy on the street at some point."

The Dolphins reportedly could have traded a second-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for disgruntled offensive tackle Branden Albert. Ireland told Salguero he didn't think the trade was the right situation for his team during the draft, but Ireland admitted that a deal could come to fruition in the future.
"Again, I never say never," Ireland said. "I don't want to get into the details of that trade right now when it could or couldn't happen done down the road."
As of now the Dolphins will move forward with 2012 second-rounder Jonathan Martin on the left side, but they will need more help. The Dolphins reportedly have had conversations with former Chiefs right tackle Eric Winston who was cut earlier this offseason. As for Albert, it seems Ireland is going to slow-play his hand in hopes the Chiefs will be the first to blink.
