Ryan Clady, Broncos reportedly to resume deal talks

The Denver Broncos and offensive tackle Ryan Clady will resume contract talks this week, The Denver Post's Mike Klis reported Sunday.

The two sides have until July 15 to come to an agreement on a long-term contract or the two-time All-Pro will play 2013 under the one-year, $9.823 million franchise tag salary.

Clady, who is also rehabbing a torn labrum in his right shoulder this offseason, is one of the NFL's best left tackles and a key to keeping safe the largely immobile quarterback Peyton Manning.

Locking the six-year vet up for the next several seasons is a priority for the Broncos brass, but the two sides have yet to see eye to eye on the three-time Pro Bowl tackle's dollar value.

Clady's camp rejected a five-year, $50 million contract last offseason and the tackle said in June he wants somewhere between Joe Thomas' eight-year, $92 million contract and Jason Peters' six-year, $60.657 million deal.

Unfortunately for Clady, the market favors the Broncos right now, with examples like Jake Long signing a contract worth $8.5 million per year this offseason.

Regardless of what happens with negotiations this week, Clady will be protecting Manning's back this season. It's the future the Broncos are concerned with.
