The Detroit Lions aren't finished taking a peek at street free agents.
Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reported that defensive tackle Rocky Bernard will visit the team Wednesday, according to a league source. The former Seahawks and Giants interior lineman started five games for New York last season and has 59 career starts since being drafted by Seattle in 2002.
The Lions are looking for bodies behind starting tackles Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. At 34, Bernard won't disrupt an offense like he once did, but he figures as a rotational player alongside C.J. Mosley and Ogemdi Nwagbuo. Bernard -- with 33 career sacks -- graded out as the NFL's 55th-ranked tackle in 2012.
With teams entering camp, mounting injuries ensure that unemployed cats like Bernard have another shot at making a team. If it doesn't happen in Detroit, he's a solid bet to latch on somewhere else.
