We learned Tuesday of Chris Johnson's race against a cheetah for the benefit of basic cable ratings.
That put us exactly one day ahead of Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak, who was unaware of his starting running back's recent showdown with the world's fastest mammal.
An excerpt from Munchak's meeting with the media Wednesday:
Mike Munchak: "You said they did race?"
Area Reporter: (Inaudible explanation)
Mike Munchak: "I haven't heard, I'll have to talk to ... when does he plan on doing that?"
Area Reporter: (Inaudible explanation)
Mike Munchak: "I didn't know he ran. Recently? I gotta go with our guy. (round of laughter) I'm behind him, I'm a CJ backer. I'm behind him, especially July through January. Obviously, he didn't get hurt, so that's a good thing."
As we pointed out Tuesday, there's no way Johnson -- or any other homo sapien -- could defeat a cheetah with four legs and all its faculties intact. Johnson didn't open training camp on the physically unable to perform list with a horrific jugular injury, however, which pretty much means everybody wins.
