Video of a May crash has surfaced showing Florida State junior tight end Nick O'Leary, the grandson of golf legend Jack Nicklaus, surviving a frightful collision with a car while riding his motorcycle.
The video from a nearby city bus that was idling and picking up passengers shows a Lexus pulling in front of O'Leary at a Tallahassee, Fla., intersection, and O'Leary running into the front of the car. He was ejected from his motorcycle, which flew into the windshield of the bus. The video shows O'Leary sliding about 80 feet, then standing up and walking away from the crash.
The Lexus driver was cited for causing the accident.
No official at Florida State mentioned the crash until Monday, when Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said at the 2013 ACC Football Kickoff media event that O'Leary was healthy after being banged up for about a month after wrecking his "scooter."
The website tomahawknation.com, which covers FSU athletics, first reported on the accident.
O'Leary has 33 receptions in his two seasons with the Seminoles. The 6-foot-3 tight end, who reportedly has gained almost 10 pounds in the past year and is up to 247, is a good receiver who has been used in the slot on occasion. The Seminoles' depth at wide receiver has meant that O'Leary has been a bit underutilized, especially last season.
