DALLAS -- Lache Seastrunk is going to be getting all the attention in the Baylor backfield this season, but ignore senior running back Glasco Martin at your peril.
In fact, Seastrunk will be the first to tell you.
"Glasco is the back that people should really take heed of and watch," Seastrunk said at Big 12 media days. "He's the (person) that they should fear.
"I'm just the guy with the lightning bolt coming through every now and again. He's the guy that comes in there and is going to really let you know that he is there."
At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, the punishing Martin was the thunder to Seastrunk's self-described lightning. Martin scored 15 rushing touchdowns last season, with nine coming in the final six games after Seastrunk became a bigger part of the offense. The two combined for 1,409 yards on the ground during that stretch, as Baylor went 5-1 including a Holiday Bowl win over UCLA.
Sharing time with Seastrunk and running behind an offensive line anchored by mammoth guard Cyril Richardson, Martin could again put up big numbers without being worn down by a big workload, a frightening prospect for opposing defenses.
"There's no deviating, he is going to run over you," Seastrunk said. "He's going to make you so tired of seeing him you are going to jump out of the way."
