Given 24 hours to reflect, it seemed possible -- even likely -- Garcon would tone down the hyperbole some. That's not quite what happened.
"We're all growing together in this offense, and we've got a lot of guys that can take it to the house from any position," Garcon said Friday at training camp, via ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. "So when you have those guys out there in an offense that we're all familiar with now, it's not getting used to it or learning it, it's just letting your natural abilities play.
"Now you're just learning from your mistakes from last year and sharpening up your tools. It's a lot easier, because you're not being coached as much. You're just tuning up the details of what you already know. It's not starting out fresh; it's building off of last year."
The Redskins had the NFL's fifth-ranked offense last season, no small feat considering the team was starting rookies at quarterback and running back. Of course, Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris weren't your average rookies.
Still, any "best ever" talk needs to be tempered by the cold sting of reality. RGIII is coming off major knee surgery. Tight end Fred Davis -- whom Garcon talked up Friday -- is attempting to come back from a torn Achilles tendon. Garcon was bothered by a foot issue last year, and it could pop up again at any time.
The Redskins have the potential to be the game's top offense this season, but you can say that about several teams. You need some good fortune to go along with the talent.
