The New York Giants on Thursday listed running backs David Wilson and Andre Brown as co-starters on the team's first unofficial depth chart.
That's no surprise here in August. Big Blue long has been a meritocracy under coach Tom Coughlin, meaning preseason will decide this race. Yes, Wilson has been talked up as the potential starter, but the Giants historically have split carries between backs and Brown figures to see his share of the workload. Especially at the goal line.
From a fantasy angle, Giants backs might test your patience this season. Coughlin couldn't care less about your Strat-O-Matic Utopia. He'll ride the hot hand from series to series, quarter to quarter and week to week. Plan accordingly.
Wilson -- also tabbed for kick returns -- finished his rookie campaign with 358 yards and four touchdowns on 71 carries. Brown last season had 385 yards and eight touchdowns on 73 tries. The difference here is Wilson's explosiveness, making it tough for New York to pull him off the field. Still, Brown keeps this from being a one-man show.
