The Cincinnati Bengals are staying cautious with A.J. Green's knee.
The team's star wide receiver won't travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons in the Bengals' Thursday preseason opener, the team announced Sunday.
Green hasn't practiced since he tweaked the knee in practice July 25. The Bengals are in no mood to rush him back, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported this week.
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis initially called Green's injury a "knee bruise," meaning the receiver likely would play if the game had any tangible meaning. Green should be fine for the Bengals' regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 8.
The team also announced that receiver Andrew Hawkins (ankle) won't travel for the Falcons game, along with offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth (knee) and defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (knee), among others.
