Darrius Heyward-Bey has encountered a road block in his quest for a starting job with the Indianapolis Colts.
The veteran wide receiver, signed by the Colts in April, limped off the practice field Sunday with a sprained knee, according to The Indianapolis Star.
Heyward-Bey's recovery timetable is unclear, though it's fair to wonder about the former first-round draft pick's availability for the Colts' preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.
Heyward-Bey is hoping to hold off T.Y. Hilton as the Colts' starting receiver opposite Reggie Wayne. Colts coach Chuck Pagano is a big fan of Hilton, an Around The League"Making The Leap" nominee, calling the second-year pro a "freak" last week.
Hilton will see plenty of time regardless of Heyward-Bey's health or performance. Still, Heyward-Bey's injury gives Hilton the opportunity to shake up the depth chart.
