The Cleveland Browns continue to take every precaution in their handling of Trent Richardson.
The Plain Dealer's Mark Kay Cabot tweeted Tuesday that Richardson "will probably" be rested in the Browns' preseason opener against the St. Louis Rams on Thursday.
Richardson has been held out of team drills since getting kicked in the right shin in practice last Thursday. This issue comes after Richardson sat out the bulk of Cleveland's offseason program as a precaution after being diagnosed with a muscle strain in the same shin.
Missing a meaningless preseason game hardly is cause for panic, though Richardson's history of injury issues makes the situation worth monitoring. If he's really going to reach the 300-carry plateau, Richardson's going to have to hit September with a spotless bill of health.
