Patrick Crayton, New Orleans Saints strike contract

The New Orleans Saints are looking far and wide for veteran receiver help in the wake of Joe Morgan's torn ACL.

Coach Sean Payton turned to a familiar face Monday, as the Saintssigned Patrick Crayton, the team announced. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Crayton quickly got to work, participating in Monday's practice session. The Saints previously signed Steve Breaston for another set of hands after Morgan was injured.

Fifth-round draft pick Kenny Stills currently is lining up as the Saints' No. 3 wide receiver. Guys like Preston Parker have attracted praise from Payton.

Crayton, best known for his days with the Dallas Cowboys, last played in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers in 2011. (Crayton played under Payton in Dallas.) Crayton's a long shot to make much of an impact in New Orleans, but the move is a sign the Saints still are seeking options for Drew Brees.
