Brandon Marshall returns, says hip 'in amazing shape'

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall returned to practice Monday after missing the team's final preseason game with a previously scheduled four-day absence to have his surgically repaired hip examined.

Marshall said his hip joint is "in amazing shape."

Jay Cutler's favorite target wasn't expected to miss Sunday's season opener. Marshall said the frustration he displayed last week stemmed from not being 100 percent healthy.

"When you have a surgery, sometimes you get frustrated getting back to that level," Marshall said, per The Associated Press. "We have a lot of amazing things going on here on the field and off the field, and I want to be a part of it. So at times it can be (frustrating)."

It's a good thing Marshall is feeling better because his general manager, Phil Every, heaped some heavy expectations on the Bears' No. 1 target.

"He's gonna get mad at me for saying this because I've been telling him all summer -- I see a guy that's better than he was last year," Emery said, per ESPN Chicago. "I see a guy that's more dynamic."

Considering Cutler targeted Marshall an exorbitant amount of times last season, expecting more than last year's 118 receptions for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns is saying a lot. We expect coach Marc Trestman's offense to be more diverse than the Bears' offense last season, but Marshall clearly still is the alpha dog of the receiving corps.
