LSU running back Jeremy Hill will come off disciplinary action Saturday against Alabama-Birmingham and make his sophomore season debut a year after leading the Tigers in rushing as a freshman. Hill will play, but come off the bench, in the Tigers' home opener, Miles said at a luncheon Friday with the Tiger Gridiron Club booster organization, according to a USA Today report.
Hill was withheld from LSU's win over Rice last week as part of discipline for a spring arrest for punching a man from behind outside a Baton Rouge bar. At the time he already was on probation for a sex-related crime adjudicated before he arrived at LSU. Criticism of the circumstances under which Hill avoided jail time didn't help Miles' public position, particularly after Hill was reinstated to the team the very day Hill was instead given extended probation terms.
Miles has said he expects senior Alfred Blue to make his second start of the season. Blue carried 19 times for 89 yards against the Horned Frogs last Saturday.
Hill led the team with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns last season as a true freshman. He also scored breakaway, game-clinching touchdowns late in fourth quarters of LSU's SEC wins over South Carolina and Texas A&M.
