The New England Patriots re-signed kick returner Leon Washington on Saturday. NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reported the move, citing a source informed of the transaction.
The team later officially announced the signing, which sets the roster at 53 players.
The Patriotsdumped Washington on Aug. 31 as a superfluous luxury in a crowded backfield and with other options in the return game.
Washington's production and attempts have dwindled the last several seasons, but he still has life in his legs.
Washington reportedly had some interest from other teams during his week away, including the New York Jets.
