After sparking the Oklahoma State offense with his legs last week, J.W. Walsh showed off his arm by setting a new school single-game completion percentage record in a 56-35 pasting of University of Texas San Antonio.
The redshirt sophomore hit on 88.9 percent of his passes (24 for 27), breaking the mark set by Brandon Weeden against Kansas in 2011 when the now-Cleveland Browns quarterback was 24-of-28 for 288 yards and five touchdowns.
Walsh finished with 327 passing yards and four scores, accounting for a fifth touchdown on a four-yard run. His top target was junior Josh Stewart, who had five receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown.
In 12 career games, Walsh has now completed 69.6 percent of his attempts. With his combination of accuracy and mobility, Walsh is looking more and more like the top quarterback in the Big 12 and a big-time future NFL prospect.
