Sunday's 31-24 Atlanta Falcons win started well for Steven Jackson, before rapidly taking a turn for the worse.
The Falcons running back took a Matt Ryan pass 8 yards into the end zone to give Atlanta a 7-0 lead over Jackson's former team, the St. Louis Rams. Minutes later, the veteran runner was seen retreating to the locker room with what the Falcons described as a thigh injury.
Losing Jackson for any amount of time would be a rugged setback for the Falcons. As powerful as Atlanta's passing game is, Jackson might be the team's most important offseason acquisition, serving as the featured back and an important piece of the air attack.
In other Falcons injury news: Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon left the game with a foot injury, and defensive end Kroy Biermann injured his ankle, according to the team's official Twitter account.
