The stunning trade of Trent Richardson left a massive void in the Cleveland Browns' backfield. They didn't waste any time attempting to fill it.
Shortly after the Richardson deal became official Wednesday, the Browns announced that free-agent running back Willis McGahee would come in for a physical Thursday. The running back passed his Thursday physical and became a member of the Browns, NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported, per team sources.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the team planned to sign McGahee pending his physical, per a source informed of the move.
It was no certainty McGahee would pass the physical. A leg injury prematurely ended his 2012 season with the Denver Broncos, and he'll be 32 in October. He worked out for the New York Giants last week, but they passed over him for Brandon Jacobs.
McGahee joins Chris Ogbonnaya and Bobby Rainey as the running backs on Cleveland's roster. Now that McGahee's on board, expect him to take on a prominent role for a team that's very much looking ahead to 2014 and beyond.
