Martellus Bennett is off to an excellent start with the Chicago Bears, quickly establishing himself as one of Jay Cutler's go-to targets.
Bennett is also an interesting dude. You already know this if you follow him on Twitter, but you were provided a reminder on Thursday when he described his relationship with Bears coach Marc Trestman.
"I think me and Coach Trestman are probably the only two people who understand each other," Bennett said, via ESPN.com. "I always say Coach Trestman reminds me of the first Willy Wonka. Not the Johnny Depp one. The Johnny Depp one was really cool, but the first one before that, the 1943 version."
We don't know what's funnier: The fact that Bennett believes "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory" was released during World War II, or that he was so specific in being wildly inaccurate about a movie released in 1971.
"He's a genius," Bennett said of Trestman. "A lot of times when you're around really, really smart people, you don't really understand them."
As you might expect, Trestman appears to be a mixture of flattered and confused by Bennett's parallel.
"I wouldn't know who Willy Wonka is, quite frankly," Trestman said, laughing. "I would bet it's ... umm ... Martellus is from a different place."
