Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken right leg Saturday in the Gators' win over Tennessee.
UF coach Will Muschamp confirmed the news after UF knocked off the rival Volunteers 31-17. Driskel was injured when he was brought down from behind on a first-half throw that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown by the Volunteers.
The Gators, however, played better offensively with backup quarterback Tyler Murphy, who led the victory with an impressive performance both rushing and passing. He sealed the victory with a nifty 7-yard touchdown run around left end in the fourth quarter. Murphy completed 8 of 14 passes for 134 yards, and rushed for another 84 yards on 10 carries for the Gators.
Driskel was 3 of 6 for 33 yards and an interception before he was hurt.
Driskel's injury was the worst of several injuries for Florida. Cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy injured his thigh on a kickoff return, and UF's other starting cornerback, Marcus Roberson, did not play due to a knee injury. Offensive guard Jon Halapio left the game briefly with an injury, but later returned.
