Bruce Arians was brought to Arizona to bolster one of the worst offenses in the NFL. So far, it's not going well.
On Monday, the day after the Cardinals' 13-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the coach succinctly described his offense.
"It was putrid," he said, per the Cardinals' official website.
Arians is finding that football life isn't nearly as fun without Andrew Luck or Ben Roethlisberger.
The coach said his players' inability to pick up the offense is stymieing its production.
"I haven't seen it take this long ever," Arians said.
The problems are aggravated by a porous offensive line that fails to create holes in the run game and is getting run over in pass protection. Carson Palmer has been under siege in the pocket. (It also doesn't help that he's still Carson Palmer.)
Arians said he's analyzed his playbook to see if he was asking too much of his players, but the coach determined he was not.
Putrid indeed.
