More Josh Freeman drama.
Erik Burkhardt, agent for the then-embattled Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, sent out a tweet Thursday addressing reports that Freeman has been subject to further team fines.
The Tampa Tribune reported Wednesday that Freeman has been fined more than $35,000 by the club for multiple infractions, according to a team source. Freeman reportedly incurred three fines of $10,410 each last week for taking part in an unauthorized interview and missing two team meetings on Friday.
Burkhardt accused the Bucs (quite baldly) of leaking "alleged" violation information, presumably to gain leverage in what was a nightmare situation for the team and its former golden boy.
This came after Freeman's status in the league's substance-abuse program came out publicly Monday. Freeman hinted the Bucs were behind that as well, and the NFL and NFL Players Association are separately investigating that matter.
They might as well check in on this leak, too. What a mess.
UPDATE: NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Buccaneers released Freeman, per a source.
