Unfortunate news on Carl Nicks, who is again dealing with a dangerous infection in his left foot.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard has seen a recurrence of the MRSA infection that affected him at the beginning of the season, per team officials. Nicks should know more tomorrow, 48 hours after the initial cultures were taken. He is back on medication, but has not yet been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Fox Sports insider Mike Garafolo first reported the news. Bucs general manager Mark Dominik told Garafolo a infectious disease specialist is currently working with Nicks to control the latest infection.
MRSA is a type of staph infection that's become resistant to the antibiotics commonly used to treat ordinary staph infections. Nicks and kicker Lawrence Tynes both came down with the infection this summer, leading to the Bucs and a handful of teams reportedly disinfecting their locker rooms.
Tynes landed on the non-football injury list and has been quarreling with the Bucs over the designation. Nicks missed the Bucs' first two games but had been a starter since.
Now Nicks is likely forced to exit the picture again. It's unknown for how long, but an extended absence is possible as Nicks attempts to rid himself of MRSA for good.
It's certainly fair to wonder if we've seen the last of the All-Pro in 2013.
