The Chicago Bears will try to survive without quarterback Jay Cutler for a while. They can only hope it goes better than it did back in 2011.
Coach Marc Trestman told reporters Monday that Cutler will miss "a minimum" of four weeks with a torn groin muscle and will be "week to week" after that point. Trestman said Cutler told him he heard a "pop" on the play he was injured.

NFL Replay
will re-air the
Washington Redskins' 45-41 win over the
Chicago Bears from Week 7 on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. ET.
Josh McCown, who played well in relief of Cutler during Sunday's loss to the Redskins, will take over as the team's starting quarterback. It's been an especially rough day for Chicago; the Bears also confirmed that Lance Briggs with miss six weeks with a small fracture in his shoulder.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who spent Monday doing promotional work for Van Heusen, for whom he'll judge an online fashion competition, chimed in on Cutler's value.
"The Bears are a great organization, and obviously losing a guy like Jay is going to hurt," Stafford told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. "He's not a guy that's easily replaceable. He's a great leader. It'll be tough going. But they're a football team that has great resolve. I'm sure they'll be playing good football."
At 4-3, the Bears face the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens and St. Louis Rams in their next four games. McCown will have to find a way to help the Bears win some of those games to keep the team in the mix.
And McCown will have to win despite a leaky defense that only is going to get worse without Briggs.
