Reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, Matt Ryan, should get a boost from the return of one of his most valuable teammates, Steven Jackson.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta Falcons running back plans to return to game action Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 2.
Jackson resumed practicing Wednesday. Soft tissue injuries are susceptible to aggravation, so he won't be locked in as the starter until he makes it through the week without a setback.
While Jackson was sidelined, Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling combined to rush for 319 yards on 93 carries (3.43 YPC) behind an often overwhelmed offensive line.
It makes sense for the Falcons to ease Jackson back into action, via a tandem attack with Rodgers, for a week or two until his hamstring is back to 100 percent.
With Julio Jones out for the season and Roddy White's status in doubt for Sunday, Atlanta faithful shouldn't expect a repeat of last week's offensive onslaught.
