A look at the top 12 pass-catching performances from Week 9:
12. Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt WR
The key stats: Eight receptions for 92 yards in a loss at Texas A&M
The buzz: Matthews broke the SEC record for career receiving yards, topping the previous mark of 3,093 yards held by Terrence Edwards of Georgia.
11. Mike Evans, Texas A&M WR
The key stats: Five receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Vanderbilt
The buzz: Evans ripped Commodores senior corner Andre Hal for a 43-yard touchdown in the first quarter, when the Aggies built a 21-0 lead. With six touchdowns in the last two weeks and nine scores this season, the 6-foot-5 redshirt sophomore has a nose for the end zone but is far more than just a red-zone specialist.
10. Odell Beckham Jr., LSU WR
The key stats: Six receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Furham
The buzz: Yeah, no one is going to ever mistake the Paladins' secondary with those found in the SEC, but Beckham helped the Tigers wake up from their catnap at just the right time.
8. Keenan Holman, SMU WR
The key stats: 10 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Temple
The buzz: Only an occasional starter coming into his senior season, Holman (6-1, 185) exploded to top his previous career-high by 76 yards.
7. Rashad Greene, Florida State WR
The key stats: Eight receptions for 137 yards and one touchdown in a win over N.C. State
The buzz: Greene did all of his damage in the first half, when the Seminoles opened a 42-0 advantage. FSU won 49-17 to set up an enormous showdown with unbeaten rival Miami next week.
6. Sammy Watkins, Clemson WR
The key stats: 14 receptions for 163 yards in a win at Maryland
The buzz: Watkins was essentially the entire Tigers passing offense in the first half, accounting for 10 of Tajh Boyd's 18 completions and 127 of 183 yards. Watkins didn't have any of his trademark big plays –- his longest catch covered 30 yards –- but did enough to position Clemson for a fourth-quarter surge to put the game away.
5. Kevin Norwood, Alabama WR
The key stats: Six receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown in a win over Tennessee
The buzz: Norwood had two highlight-reel catches in the Crimson Tide's thumping of the Volunteers to remain unbeaten and in position to play for their third BCS title in four seasons.
4. Tyler Lockett, Kansas State WR
The key stats: Eight receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns in a win over West Virginia
The buzz: After missing the Wildcats' last game against Baylor with an injury, Lockett showed his value against a solid Mountaineers secondary by getting deep on a 35-yard post route for a score in the first quarter. Lockett (5-11, 175) isn't going to impress anyone with his physique but continues to produce in a run-oriented offense.
3. Nelson Agholor, USC WR
The key stats: Six receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown in a win over Utah
The buzz: Agholor, who was questionable coming into the game with a rib injury, had the only touchdown in Los Angeles. The sophomore showed great toughness and a natural understanding of where to attack the holes when the Utes used a Cover 2 defense.
3. Deontay Greenberry, Houston WR
The key stats: Eight receptions for 168 yards and three touchdowns in a win at Rutgers
The buzz: Greenberry, the highly regarded recruit who spurned Notre Dame for the Cougars on signing day 2012, posted his fourth game this season with more than 140 receiving yards to keep UH undefeated in AAC play.
2. Bruce Ellington, South Carolina WR
The key stats: 10 receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns in a win at Missouri
The buzz: Ellington caught the touchdown that sparked the Gamecocks' fourth-quarter rally, adding another in overtime to help end the Tigers' unbeaten start and keep the SEC East in play.
1. Jalen Saunders, Oklahoma WR
The key stats: Six receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Texas Tech
The buzz: Saunders sparked what would be a wild shootout with his 76-yard touchdown catch late in the first half. After spending most of last season as a slot receiver, Saunders (5-9, 157) was more than adept at operating out wide to keep the Sooners in the Big 12 title chase.
