LSU's Odell Beckham Jr., one of the top juniors in the nation at the wide receiver position, exploded for 204 yards on six receptions, with two touchdowns, on Saturday night. The competition wasn't exactly fierce -- the Furman Paladins provided little resistance in the secondary -- but Beckham nevertheless compiled a career-high total.
Beckham averaged 34 yards per catch, with scores from 63 and 37 yards. The shorter of the touchdowns was especially impressive, as Beckham split double coverage on what was essentially a jump ball. See that play here:
Beckham's other touchdown was a deep crossing route over the middle on which he outran the Paladins secondary, turned the corner on the left sideline, and raced to the end zone from there.
It was Beckham's fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season. Also an accomplished kick returner, Beckham entered the game ranked No. 2 in the entire NCAA in all-purpose yardage with 206 per game.
