The Seattle Seahawks have gotten very bad news on wide receiver Sidney Rice.
NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Tuesday that Rice is done for the season after tearing his ACL during Monday's win over the St. Louis Rams, according to a source apprised of the injury. The Seahawks later announced the news.
Rice suffered injuries to his knee and head before exiting midway through the second quarter. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told a radio show on Tuesday that Rice was dealing with concussion-like symptoms.
Knee issues aren't new to Rice. He traveled to Switzerland in August to have a non-surgical procedure on his knee. Rice later revealed he underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment.
Losing Rice is a tough blow to a Seahawks offense that finished with 135 total yards in Monday night's win. It also makes the return of Percy Harvin even more important. Harvin could slide into Rice's spot in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Injuries are nothing new for Rice, who's played in 81 of 112 games since entering the NFL in 2007. Due $8.5 million in salary next season, Rice likely has played his final snap as a member of the Seahawks.
If so, it's been a disappointing run.
