With wide receiver Reggie Wayne out for the rest of the season, the Indianapolis Colts could use a boost from their 12th-ranked ground game.
That begins with running back Trent Richardson, who is active and will play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Richardson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury, but he was a full participant in Friday's session and will see carries alongside Donald Brown.
Richardson -- acquired from the Cleveland Browns in September -- has struggled to achieve liftoff in Indy, averaging just 3 yards per carry on 83 attempts. This offense begins and ends with quarterback Andrew Luck, but a breakout game from T-Rich would be welcomed by an offense looking for playmakers down the stretch.
Here's the rest of Sunday's injury news:
- Rapoport also told NFL Network's "NFL GameDay Morning" that Houston Texans running back Arian Foster will miss the rest of the season to undergo back surgery this week. The team will place Foster on injured reserve Monday, meaning Ben Tate will carry the load Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals despite four cracked ribs.
- Roddy White hasn't played since injuring his hamstring in the Week 5 loss to the New York Jets, but the Atlanta Falcons have activated the veteran wide receiver and he will start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
- The Packers will go into battle Sunday without Aaron Rodgers, but Green Bay will have hammer-droping pass rusher Clay Matthews back against the Philadelphia Eagles. Matthews will play with a club over his surgically repaired thumb, and he isn't the only linebacker back in the mix. Nick Perry (broken foot) is active and ready to go.
- Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was questionable with a rib injury, but the rookie is active and good to go Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. As he has all season, Bernard will split carries with BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Less encouraging for the Bengals, tight end Jermaine Gresham is inactive.
- EJ Manuel is back for the Bills, but Buffalo's rookie quarterback won't have wide receiver Robert Woods against the Steelers. He's inactive Sunday with a banged-up ankle.
- For the Eagles, cornerback Bradley Fletcher has been declared inactive with a pectoral injury, meaning Brandon Boykin will move from the slot to the outside. That's hopeful news for Green Bay's Rodgers-less air attack.
