Ohio State trails Alabama and Florida State in the latest BCS standings, but Monday, Spencer said he believes the Buckeyes could "wipe the field" with anyone in the nation, the Crimson Tide included.
"But that's just my bias speaking," Spencer said.
Spencer, who has 21 receptions and three TD catches, told reporters he watched Stanford beat Oregon on Thursday night and two-time defending national champion Alabama beat LSU on Saturday night. Stanford's upset enabled Ohio State to move up a spot in this week's BCS standings.
"I was the biggest Cardinal fan for three hours," Spencer said. "We needed a little bit of help. But at the same time, we still have to take care of our business."
During his weekly news conference Monday, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said he voted his Buckeyes No. 2 in the coaches' poll, one spot behind Alabama and one spot ahead of Florida State.
Ohio State plays at Illinois, which has lost 19 consecutive Big Ten games, this Saturday. Meyer said his team shouldn't feel any extra pressure when it comes to winning with "style points", and that simply winning the game is what is important.
