Mike Pouncey is taking steps to remain in the equation for the Miami Dolphins.
NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Tuesday that Pouncey -- who missed Sunday's win over the San Diego Chargers due to gallbladder issues -- will attempt to resume activity without surgery, according to a team source.
It remains unclear if the center will be able to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Surgery remains possible to remove the gallbladder, according to Darlington, but the current plan is for Pouncey to take medicine to see if the symptoms subside. If the pain is too much, the issue will be addressed again.
Pouncey was hospitalized Friday because of the issue. If he can't play Sunday, the Dolphins will again be without 60 percent of their starting offensive line when they host the Panthers, football's hottest team.
