Broncos coach John Fox returns to Denver

John Fox is back in the Rocky Mountains.

Mike Klis of The Denver Post reported that the Broncos coach returned to Denver on Wednesday for the first time since undergoing an aortic heart valve replacement on Nov. 4.

Fox, 58, isn't expected to return to team headquarters this week and won't be with the squad Sunday in Kansas City when the Broncosplay the Chiefs, per The Post.

ProFootballTalk reported Wednesday that there's a "legitimate possibility" Fox -- when he does return -- could spend at least one game coaching from the booth, per a source.

That sounds about right. Interim coach Jack Del Rio has done a capable job running the show, and The Post noted that Denver plans to ease Fox in on a "gradual basis."

Still, it's not as if Fox has been tucked away in Charlotte reading Emily Brontë. He's involved in every brushstroke this team makes, and that so-called "gradual basis" will melt into the long hours of Denver's playoff push soon enough.

The latest "Around The League Podcast" previewed all three of the big Thanksgiving games on the schedule.
