Have no fear, Arizona Cardinals fans. Carson Palmer will be on the field Sunday, despite the quarterback being listed as questionable on the injury report with an elbow injury.
NFL Media columnist Michael Silver reported Sunday on "NFL GameDay First" that Palmer texted him that he will playagainst the St. Louis Rams.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport previously reported Saturday that Palmer is expected to start this week against the Rams, according to a source with knowledge of Palmer's preparation. The quarterback suffered the injury early in last week's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and played through it.
Palmer assumed the role of starter in Saturday's walk-through after being limited in practice the entire week. Coach Bruce Arians said Friday he was sure Palmer would be "ready to go" Sunday. The Cardinals remain on the outskirts of the playoffs and need a win over the Rams this week to keep pace.
Palmer had an iffy outing against the Eagles, but had been on a steady upward climb in Arians' offense in the games prior to Week 13.
Backup quarterback Drew Stanton would have been a capable one-game replacement had Palmer not been able to play, but the Cardinals clearly wanted their starter as they hope to remain in the hunt for a wild-card berth.
