Aside from getting picked on Monday night, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been one of the team's best defensive backs.
Jerry Jones awarded Scandrick for his play by signing the 5-foot-10 corner to a two-year contract extension that adds $9 million in guaranteed money to the $25 milllion extension he received in 2011, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Scandrick is now signed through 2018. Brian McIntyre first reported the news and salary breakdown.
The 26-year-old Scandrick mostly played in the slot before moving outside to take over for benched corner Morris Claiborne. Pro Football Focus ranks Scandrick as the 19th best cover corner in the league. He rates as the best Cowboy in coverage, 56 spots ahead of Brandon Carr (75), according to the website.
The Cowboys' defense -- especially the pass defense -- has been tragic this season. Regardless of the money, the extension likely will be perceived as Jerry overvaluing his own players once again.
