For a brief period, Terrelle Pryor looked like he could be an actual solution to the Oakland Raiders' long-standing quarterback problem.
It didn't last. Injury and inconsistency opened the door for Matt McGloin to take his place last month, and Pryor has been pushed to the background ever since. He played one series against the New York Jets last Sunday, his first game action since Nov. 10.
Pryor has kept a low profile since his benching. According to CSN Bay Area, the team "convinced" the quarterback to speak with the media Friday, his first such interaction in more than three weeks.
"I could sit here and say I disagree and this and that, but, at the end of the day, coach Allen is our leader and he's the one that has to make tough decisions," Pryor said. "He made one, and it is what it is."
It wasn't long ago that Allen said Oakland planned to "continue to try to build with (Pryor) and try to grow with him." Pryor soon hurt his knee, an injury the coaching staff didn't find out about until Pryor told media members it contributed to his struggles in a loss to the New York Giants. The talk landed Pryor in Allen's dog house.
"That's a moment I wish I would've handled differently," he said.
McGloin has had his moments, but it remains a very real possibility the Raiders will invest in a quarterback in the early rounds of the 2014 draft. That would put Pryor's roster spot very much in jeopardy.
