San Diego State junior tailback Adam Muema, who has rushed for 2,473 yards and 28 TDs in the past two seasons, evidently is going pro.
He tweeted Monday that, "I'm declaring to the NFL, there's no secret." But the tweet was deleted soon thereafter.
A SDSU athletic spokesman Mike May said the school was aware of the tweet but had no other comment. Muema sent paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Board to gauge his stock.
Muema (5-foot-10, 205 pounds) and the Aztecs meet Buffalo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday.
Muema has rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 TDs this season despite being hampered by a sore ankle that limited him to just 118 yards in the first four games. But he finished with five 100-yard outings in the regular season's final eight games, including a 233-yard performance against New Mexico.
Muema runs low to the ground, is patient and does a nice job of setting up his blockers. He also is an OK receiver. But he lacks breakaway speed and seems a third-day pick at best.
Muema is just one of four players in SDSU history with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, and two of the others (Marshall Faulk and Ronnie Hillman) were early-round picks.
