Missouri sophomore wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was arrested on a drug charge overnight in his hometown of Springfield, Mo., according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
He was released from jail early Saturday morning.
Green-Beckham was arrested for alleged distribution or delivering less than five grams of marijuana. It is his second marijuana-related arrest; the other came in October 2012 and involved a possession charge.
Springfield police told the Post-Dispatch that it was an ongoing investigation and that there would be no further comment.
Green-Beckham (6-foot-6, 225 pounds), who is both fast and physical (and physically imposing), led Mizzou with 59 receptions this season, a figure that was tied for seventh in the SEC. He had 883 receiving yards and was tied with Texas A&M's Mike Evans for the league lead with 12 touchdown receptions.
Green-Beckham was considered the No. 1 overall recruit nationally in the 2012 recruiting class out of Springfield's Hillcrest High, where he was coached by his father, and began to live up to that hype this season after a so-so true freshman season.
It will be interesting to see how coach Gary Pinkel and Mizzou athletic department officials treat this latest incident. Green-Beckham has been criticized for his focus and maturity. The arrest obviously doesn't help in that regard.
