MOBILE, Ala. -- Pittsburgh defensive lineman Aaron Donald had a dominant showing on Tuesday working against the North squad offensive linemen. At 6-1, 288 pounds, Donald plays low and strong, leveraging blockers with quickness and a lot of raw strength.
"Donald is a very explosive defensive tackle," North coach Mike Smith said. "I've been very impressed with him. He's short in stature by NFL standards. He doesn't maybe have all the measurables. But he's one of the more explosive guys we have on the North squad. He's done a nice job in the run and the pass game in the first two practices."
The uptick in competition at the Senior Bowl has done nothing to diminish the form Donald showed in winning the Outland Trophy as the nation's top lineman and earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. He spent his final college season squarely in offensive backfields, piling up 28.5 tackles for loss, with 11 sacks, 16 quarterback hurries and four forced fumbles.
