Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson will undergo groin surgery

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson must once again come back from offseason surgery.

Peterson will undergo groin surgery on Thursday in Philadelphia, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source informed of the player's condition. ESPN's Josina Anderson first reported the news.

Peterson missed two of the final four games of the 2013 season with the groin injury. He was limited in the other two.

Dr. William Meyers, who performed Peterson's sports hernia operation last year, will handle this surgery as well. It was determined Peterson needed to go under the knife after he met with the doctor in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Peterson also suffered a sprained right foot late in the year.

The Vikings star finished the season with 1,266 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns en route to his sixth Pro Bowl selection. However, he won't play in Sunday's game as he deals with the injury.
