Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has yet to have a conversation with Jonathan Martin since the release of the Wells report, but he believes that might soon change.
During a Tuesday conference call to promote anti-bullying legislation, Ross explained that the legal process surrounding the team and the offensive lineman continues to play out.
"I was precluded from talking to him while the investigation was going on," Ross said. "Now that we got the report, the lawyers are trying to arrange the meeting, which should take place relatively soon I believe."
It's remains unclear how plausible a Martin return to the Dolphins actually is. Ross sounded open to a discussion.
"I think (Martin) wants to talk to me and I'm prepared to listen," he said.
Ross wouldn't publicly comment on the details of the Wells report. He said Tuesday his reaction to the report is "irrelevant" to the topic at hand, pointing back to the proposed law that would have student-athletes sign pledges to not take part in harassment, bullying and the use of racial slurs.
"We want to lead a national consciousness to create a conduct of civility in the locker room," Ross said.
Martin, reached by the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Tuesday, was mum on his Dolphins future.
"I'm just going to let the process take care of itself," the offensive lineman said.
