The Pro Bowl might be on the move.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport cited a league source Tuesday to report that active and serious discussions have taken place over moving next January's All-Star event to Arizona, the site of Super Bowl XLIX.
The league has proven of late that it's open-minded to tweaking the Pro Bowl, incorporating a new draft format and rule changes that led to a more competitive game last month, with Jerry Rice's hand-picked squad knocking off a Deion Sanders-drafted outfit 22-21 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
Moving the game away from Hawaii makes sense, especially if it means luring Pro Bowl players into town in the lead-up to the Super Bowl.
Besides, Arizona in the dead of winter is a destination NFL players can warm up to. Shifting future Pro Bowls to cold-weather Super Bowl cities, however, would do nothing for a game already hampered by too many cancellations.
