Former Houston Texans nose tackle Earl Mitchellagreed to a four-year, $16 million contract, with $9 million guaranteed, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source informed of the Dolphins' thinking.

Mitchell was slated to visit the Dolphins as early as Tuesday night and the team didn't let him leave the facility without an agreement.

A 17-game starter over the past two seasons, Mitchell is a good fit as the run-stopping nose tackle in Kevin Coyle's 4-3 defense. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik has labeled him one of the top sleepers of free agency.
