Gang Green used the No. 213 overall pick in the sixth round to add Clemson's Tajh Boyd, a signal-caller they followed closely in the lead-up to the draft.
A college teammate of coach Rex Ryan's son Seth, Boyd generated more questions than answers at the Reese's Senior Bowl. He's not a threat to displace Geno Smith or Michael Vick, but he could wind up casting No. 3 arm Matt Simms to the street if he does well in camp.
The 6-foot-1 Boyd was a hot prospect a year ago, but his stock took a fierce tumble as scouts found issues with his game film.
Boyd has a strong arm and can make plays with his feet, but he'll need time to adjust to a pro-style offense after operating out of a pistol, read-option-heavy attack in college. His numbers at Clemson were inflated by playing alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins; he won't find those weapons in New York.
