By nearly any metric the Chicago Bears boast one of the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL.
While some -- like NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks -- might argue that other receiver groups rank ahead of the Bears' wideout duo, receiver Alshon Jeffery is confident he and Brandon Marshall lead the class.
"I'm not the type of person that brags a lot about anything, but I feel that last year, what we did, we were at the top of the list as the two best receivers," Jeffery told Sporting News' Rana L. Cash last week. "But that was last year. This year we have to set our goal and try our best to do the same thing we did last year, if not better."
Early last season Marshall said Jeffery would eventually become the best wide receiver "ever to come through the Bears, statistically." Jeffery then went out and caught 89 passes for 1,421 yards, seven touchdowns and innumerable breathtaking plays. If Jeffery takes another mega-leap in 2014, Marshall will begin to look prophetic.
Given the wideout's performance in 2013, Cash asked Jeffery what his Megatron-like nickname would be. "The Show," Jeffery decided on the spot.
"I feel like every time I try to catch the ball and make a play, I try to put on a show, so that's what I would call myself," he said.
Given the Bears' prolific offense under Marc Trestman, "The Show" and his towering teammates make Chicago a potentially intriguing option for the 2014 "Team of Around The League."
