When Around The League spoke with Bill Lazor on Monday, the Dolphins play-caller hinted that Miami's reimagined offense would employ a feverish tempo come September.
Dolphins defenders are confirming as much.
"I've never seen anything this fast," cornerback Cortland Finnegan told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "It's great. It's going to be great for us as an offense and defense. To go against one another, compete at this level and do it with this many bullets flying and people running around. So I'm enjoying it."
By all accounts, the Dolphins have waved farewell to the sleep-inducing attack that former coordinator Mike Sherman lorded over the past two seasons.
Lazor has come to Miami straight from the Philadelphia Eagles, for which he coached the quarterbacks and spent hundreds of hours with Chip Kelly, who successfully used tempo to tear through defenses.
The big winner here? Dolphins fans, who finally have something to look forward to on offense.
"I hope no one ever calls us sluggish," Lazor said Monday. "There are a lot of different ways to play, and we want to play fast, there's no doubt about it."
