Brandon Lloyd will spend the summer trying to catch on with the San Francisco 49ers after a season away from the game.
Lloyd's NFL hiatus wasn't necessarily the wide receiver's choice, but the year of unemployment didn't exactly induce a grand personal crisis. It was more the opposite.
"Actually, it was kind of a relief," Lloyd said from his football camp this week, according to the Post Independent. "I mean, 10 years straight. I was really enjoying the anonymity. But at the same time, this is still the career path that I love. I love playing football."
Lloyd has an uphill battle for the Niners, who traded for Stevie Johnson and used a fourth-round pick on South Carolina receiver Bruce Ellington in last month's draft. Lloyd is a roster long shot, but he appears to be at peace if his NFL road is nearing an end.
