Broncos' Chris Harris says ACL recovery going well

Chris Harris suffered a partially torn ACL in the divisional round of the playoffs, which ended up being a big blow to both the cornerback -- who was set to be a restricted free agent -- and the Broncos as they marched toward a Super Bowl defeat.

Just over five months removed from the injury, Harris told the Tulsa World he is on a schedule that could allow him to start practicing July 28 -- if he gets clearance from doctors -- which lands four days after the Broncos open training camp.

"I'm doing great, man," Harris told the World. "I'm probably about 85 percent right. I have one more month of training and then I finally get (medically) released so I'm excited about that."

Harris played the most snaps for the Broncos' secondary and had a stellar regular season in 2013. One example: Pro Football Focus rated him its No. 8 corner. However, in the offseason the Broncos' brass built up its defensive backfield around the injured Harris, adding Aqib Talib and first-round pick Bradley Roby at corner, along with T.J. Ward at safety.

If Harris is 100 percent by the time the season kicks off, the Broncos revamped defense will be dangerous.

"I've never had that much talent around me to play with, so I think it is going to be fun to play with a bunch of guys that are just as talented as me," Harris said.
