The Cleveland Browns are getting closer to a resolution on Josh Gordon's status for the 2014 season.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, via a source close to the situation, the appeals hearing on Gordon's potentially lengthy suspension for a positive drug test will be held on Aug. 1 in New York City.
Although the troubled wide receiver is also coming off DWI charges from earlier this month, coach Mike Pettine has made it clear that the team has no intention of cutting ties.
In fact, Pettine expects Gordon to report to training camp on Friday.
The question is whether Gordon will suit up at any point beyond camp. The Browns should find out the answer some time early next month.
