Bryce Petty, Marcus Mariota highlight Senior Bowl watch list

The Reese's Senior Bowl released its annual watch list of nearly 350 players from all levels of college football on Wednesday, and there are plenty of big names primed to compete in the prestigious event.

According to the release on SeniorBowl.com, a player not on the initial watch list can still be added to the 2015 game but the comprehensive amount of names is a good look at the top seniors from across the country to watch this upcoming season.

A total of 29 quarterbacks landed on the list, including Heisman Trophy candidates like Nick Marshall, Bryce Petty, Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota. A number of draft-eligible juniors are on the list, like Mariota, but they can participate in the annual event by virtue of having a diploma even if they're not actually seniors.

As expected, the SEC led the way with 74 selections on the list. The ACC and Pac-12 followed behind with 49 and 40 seniors, respectively.

Clemson edged out both Auburn and Alabama with 12 players picked as the school with the most selections. Defending national champion Florida State landed seven players on the watch list.

Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage and his fellow committee members will have to fill 110 roster spots that make up the North and South teams in the all-star game.

The Senior Bowl will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at the familiar Ladd-Peebles Stadium. NFL Network and College Football 24/7 will provide week-long, in-depth coverage from Mobile, Ala., including broadcasting the game itself.
